Bad news for those of you paranoid of all the bad boy hackers out there who are just dying to get control of your computer: a researcher has created a website that, when you visit it, can take complete control of your router.

The website, which pulls what's called a "DNS rebinding attack," changing the configuration of your router and letting the perp remotely administer the device. Want to make sure this doesn't happen to you? Make sure your router has a unique, non-obvious password. That's your best defense, as this hack relies on most people using the default or easily-guessable passwords.

Apple has breathed new life into its AirPort Express Base Station, where it looks exactly the same like the original despite cramming in an all important upgrade - support for 802.11n networking compared to the slower 802.11g standard found in the original. In addition to that modification, a few minor tweaks have been introduced as well. First of all, let us see what has remained the same - the 10/100Base-T Ethernet port, a USB port that comes in handy for hooking up a remote printer, and an audio-output jack that supports both digital and analog audio. A power outlet from a wall is used to keep the AirPort Express going. Let us check out the benefits after the jump.

Comcast is all set to green flag 100GBps network the optical networking equipment carrying live Internet traffic over a production fiber infrastructure. The 100-Gbps trial connects Comcast facilities in Philadelphia and to McLean, Va., running over the operator's metro and long-haul fiber links. Comcast is using preproduction versions of Nortel Networks' 100-Gbps interface cards, running in the vendor's Optical Multiservice Edge 6500 system. The sole aim of its executive vice president is to enable a building block for going to wideband. Belkin N1 Vision Wireless Router
Posted on Mar 10 2008 8:53 AM by adnana
    Filed Under: Networking ,

There may be a huge variety of wireless broadband routers on the market offering a wide range of features but the one thing all these slabs of plastic have in common is their boring, blocky design. Belkin's N1 Vision aims to remedy our design related blues as this super slick router cries out to be put on display and shown off at every opportunity.

The high-gloss black front panel has a smart backlit LCD display which works in tandem with the operator panel alongside to provide information about your broadband connection and connected computers without the need to load a web browser. It's not short on hardware features either, as the wireless access point is the 802.11n variety that's Draft 2.0 compliant and it teams this up with a quartet of switched Gigabit Ethernet ports. For the Internet connection you have a standard RJ-45 port so you'll need an appropriate ADSL or cable modem.
