Only John Koller knows how serious John Koller, Sony's senior marketing manager for PSP, was when mentioning that GPS-enabled games could eventually hit the PSP, but he definitely threw it out there. Speaking about the forthcoming GPS add-on for the PlayStation Portable, Koller stated that said module "changes the dynamics of GPS but also changes the way developers think about games on PSP, because you can start integrating GPS into it."

Hori just dropped the Real Arcade Pro EX arcade joystick for the Xbox 360 and it looks like it is a serious way to kick ass in fighting games as well as other old school games. It gives you eight large action buttons and a ball-grip joystick that takes you back to the arcade. I was hypnotized when I saw this and went and got several rolls of quarters, which are now useless since I’ve come to my senses.

CyberLink has taken a good hard look at GPU transcoding capabilities last summer, and they have also been hard at work, adding transcoding to its own software stack. Fast forward one year and you will find the CyberLink PowerDirector 7 Ultra to be one muscular piece of software, shipping with GPU-accelerated video transcoding. In a tech demonstration (I am normally very reserved with the claims of such demonstrations since the results tend to be skewed).

If you look up Nuvi in the dictionary, you won’t find anything, and on a traditional US keyboard, it’s hard to even type N ü (hold down alt, then on your numeric keypad type 0252) v i. Go ahead, give it a shot. But if you go into any major retail store that offers GPS units you will definitely find Garmin Nüvi GPS units all over the place competing as one of the best in car, on the trail or in the airplane navigation system solutions money can buy.

These amazing video game images by digital artist RETROnoob take familiar bitmapped sprite characters and marry them to real world photographs. Through creative and generous application of digital blur tools, each of the images does a brilliant job blending 2-D and 3-D worlds into one.

As far as I can tell from this guy’s French converted into my bad english, he was inspired by the Japanese version of the console. And of course, inspired by the Zelda games. Notice the beautiful blue light coming out from beneath making it look like it’s on some alien pedestool, the nicely rounded edges of the case and Link’s sword, yes Link’s sword sticking out of the case like Excalibur.

Our tale begins in 1989 with a game published on the Apple II. Its creator, Jordan Mechner, has already had a hit with an early fighting game called Karateka, developed while he was attending Yale University. Published by Broderbund, Karateka was widely praised for its advanced animation, which pretty much defined what people meant by 'lifelike' at the time. With Prince of Persia, however, Mechner is to take things even further.

Given that $100 at Wal-mart is essentially as good as cash, we can only imagine how titillating this offer may seem for Blu-ray holdouts. Announced today, the mega-retailer will be offering a $100 gift card with the purchase of any Blu-ray player from June 8th through 14th -- and yes, Sony's PlayStation 3 is included.

Once again Japan gets all the cool things. Like this latest, the Cinnabar Red PlayStation 2. It should be available on July 3rd, for the equivalent of $155 US. Perfect if you love rocking red, or if you have some sort of Hell theme happening. In fact, it would probably be at home in Hellboy’s house. Hell. Damnation. The damned. Red is the color of anger you know. I think it’s affecting me in a strange way.

Someone (who I’ll dub Crafty McCrafterson) created this charming Grand Theft Auto IV cross-stitch which uses embroidery thread to express that age old chestnut “Only those who die get closure. The living do not.” Awwww. So sweet! I don’t know about you, but when I think “Grand Theft Auto IV” I think “granny crafts.” Oh wait, actually I think about hotwiring stolen cars and hijacking helicopters while majorly pwning everyone in Liberty City.
