If you're a golfer and are actively looking for a method to lower your handicap, why not give the Sureshot GPS a...well, shot? It knows more than 12,000 courses in and out, giving you an edge no matter where you go golfing. Boasting GPS capability, it will then calculate the distance from tee to green while laying out all the possible hazards for you to see so that you can make the best choice the next time you step up.

Portable GPS devices are among the hottest selling CE gadgets: An amazing 12 million are expected to be gobbled up this year, according to the Consumer Electronics Association. Not too bad for a device that simply tells you where to go—and gets annoyed if you decide to take a different route! (We affectionately call our Garmin GPS “Naggie” since she gets a dismissive tone if we choose to blaze our own shortcuts.).

The V7 Nav740 is a GPS unit aimed at people who are interested in a GPS for their car but have shied away from them due to their generally high prices. At just $219 USD it’s certainly very affordable, and surprisingly it’s not a “cheapo” GPS unit at all. The Nav740 is very easy to use, has great features and only minor flaws.

If, like us, you a big fan of Archos' flagship 605 WiFi PMP then this is going to go down a treat...
Archos' unambiguously named 'GPS In-Car Holder' doesn't leave much to the imagination, but that doesn't make it any less welcome.
Featuring either European, North America or China mapping via Tele Atlas from launch, the peripheral brings full voice turn-by-turn instruction and takes advantage of the 605's touchscreen navigation. Postcode and POI searches are in there too along with traffic assistance, route planning, 'speed control assistance' (English: speed camera databases) and the ability to channel all instructions through your car's FM stereo via the built in line-out.

AVIC-F700BT will be very similar to the AVIC-F900BT we just talked about however it will not have the built-in MSN Direct Tuner and also it will only be able to handle CD’s and not DVD’s.
Both units require a 2-DIN radio slot and if you wish to control your iPod you’ll have purchase CD-IU230V cable separately.

The DrivTrax DTR-P7DT is a 1-SEG tuning, GPS navigating and MPEG4, WMV, MP3, WMA playing PND. It’s powered by a 400Mhz Samsung processor and runs on Windows CE. Screen is 4.3 inches, which is really all you need in an all-around PND. The P7DT and its Bluetooth-connected brother, DrivTrax DTR-P50, will be released and priced in early June. We’ve written about a GPS-PMP from Clarion before and these new releases are even more mind-blowing than that.

MyGuide seems to be revamping their product line these days. After M.i.motion3318, M.i.motion4328 and M.i.more4338, the two new additions to their entry level GPS navigation systems are the m.imove 3218 and m.imove 4228.
m.imove 3218 is the smaller of the two with a 3.5″ screen. m.imove 4228 boasts a 4.3″ screen and a stronger 1450mAh battery as opposed to 1050mAh.
The rest of the of features are identical. Both have text-to-speech function, come with 2.1 million points of interests, can show elevations in 3D, and have lane assistance. As far as hardware and OS nothing too exciting: 372Mhz CPU, 512 MB Flash Memory, 64 MB RAM, 30 channel GPS and Windows CE 5.0.
The navigation software is the latest MyGuide 8.0 and in addition to advanced 3D renderings it also can warn the user when above the posted speed limit. There’s also the SDVC: volume of voice instructions will increase/decrease depending on speed of car.

Asus has not forgotten about cyclists by releasing a couple of exclusive packages targeting folks who rely on the bicycle as the primary means of transport. This mount package allows one to attach the Asus R300 to the handlebars without causing any distraction, and it sure as heck is much safer to have it mounted than hold it in one hand while the other hand is trying to steady the bike while on the road. The mounts also function as a form of defense against scrapes, scratches and rocks thanks to a protective cover.
